Crisis Response, Community Led - North and West Vancouver
Provides emergency response to crisis calls related to mental health situations or crisis concerns. Crisis responders may include a mental health professional and a peer worker with lived experience working together to provide in-person support to youth and adults on the North Shore.
A team of crisis responders are trained to help reduce distress, provide safety and support, help with referrals to other services and offer post-crisis follow-up.
All Nations Youth Safe House
Provides a safe, supportive and non-judgmental home environment for at-risk youth of all nations to achieve healthy self-determined goals while encouraging positive family and community connections. Key workers assigned to each resident provides individual consultation, additions and life counselling and networking opportunities to prevent further at risk behaviour.
Depression and Anxiety Support
Offers individual and group counselling, stress management seminars, and workshops to help individuals, parents and couples heal from depression and anxiety. The centre promotes a holistic model of healing that addresses the whole person - body, mind, and spirit. Support groups are available in-person or online.
Homicide Grief Support Groups
Offers group support in a safe, non-judgmental environment to families and friends of individuals who have survived the loss of a loved one by homicide. Groups meet once a week for eight weeks.
Participants come together to support each other, listen to others who have experienced a similar loss, and as well learn grief and mourning tools to help in their daily lives.
Homeless Outreach and Advocacy
Offers outreach services in the Tri-city area to adults who are homeless and or are at risk of being homeless. Services include referrals to mental health and addiction resources and programs, short-term rental subsidy for qualified individuals, and referrals to other community supports as needed.
Prostate Cancer Information and Support
Provides group support, information and resources on prostate and other male health-related problems. Support includes newsletters, books, brochures as well as individual support, monthly group meetings and public awareness presentations.
Residential Treatment Program
Offers residential treatment in a supportive drug and alcohol-free environment to help women overcome their chemical dependency and substance misuse.
The program includes individual and group counselling, meals, recreational activities and socialization, 12-step programs, and personal development opportunities.
Community Programs
Provides community-based education, health and cultural programs for Aboriginal families living in the Northern Vancouver Island area. Programs include social services, children and family programming, and services that offer cultural awareness, education and support.
Cancer Patient Transportation Program
Provides round trip door-to-door transportation to patients throughout diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for cancer. Pre-screened volunteer drivers pick up patients from their homes, wait while the patient is at the appointment, and then return the patient home immediately afterwards. A caregiver may accompany the patient.
School-Based Mental Health Outreach Program
Provides counselling programs for students and families experiencing stress at home, such as addictions, grief, mental health, stress, and anxiety, which affect the student's ability to manage at school. Families are referred by the school and services are offered in the school and or family home.
