Recovery isn’t always a linear journey but knowing where to go when you’re ready to take the first step can really help.
BC is starting up a new way of providing addictions care called the Road to Recovery. This new approach helps people who are struggling with drug or alcohol problems get back on their feet. The first Road to Recovery opened in the Vancouver region in 2023 and offers various services like detox, treatment, recovery and aftercare, all accessed by calling Access Central. Road to Recovery provides easier and faster access to the services people need and supports them toward long-term recovery. Road to Recovery provides each client with a support system that delivers same-day care tailored to each person's unique needs. This can help people achieve their recovery goals.
How to access the new addiction care program in the Vancouver region
If you live in the Greater Vancouver region, you can now call Access Central Vancouver at 1-866-658-1221 for personalized same-day support. The Access Central line provides quick connections to a health care worker, such as a doctor or nurse, for assessment, so you can access the right service right away. You can call any day between 9 AM and 7:45 PM to talk to someone about options for treatment.
Learn more about the Road to Recovery Model and Plans for Expansion Across BC
While Vancouver is the first place to use this new approach to addiction care, the Road to Recovery model will be rolled out across British Columbia. This will help everyone in the province who needs support to deal with their addiction get it. To find out more about the Road to Recovery approach and its expansion, visit Gov.bc.ca/BetterCare.
