Substance Use Peer Support Groups
Provides an online listing of support groups available in BC for men and women who self-identify with problematic substance use. Face-to-face meetings are held at a variety of spaces in the community and offer participants a place to talk about recovery topics and support each other.
24-Hour Rape Crisis Line
Provides a free, confidential 24-hour rape crisis line for women as well as in-person crisis intervention services. Support is available to all women who have experienced recent or past male violence including wife battering, sexual assault, incest, prostitution, and sexual harassment.
24-Hour Crisis Line - Indigenous
Operates a 24-hour provincial crisis and counselling line for First Nations Elders, adults, children and youth in need throughout BC. Services include follow-up or continuum care, risk assessments, safety monitoring, and 24-hour mobile outreach.
Cancer Support Program
Provides support and information from a cancer coach who has special training and certification in the medical and surgical treatment of colorectal cancer and with navigating the healthcare system.
Coaches can provide patient and caregivers with information on new and evolving therapies, screening, treatment-related side effects, and hereditary syndromes.
Peer Education Workshops
Provides peer-led workshops, presentations and training to youth on sexual health and harm reduction topics. Offered to youth communities throughout BC, the program aims to increase the skills of young people with preventing, passing and getting HIV, Hep C, and other sexually transmitted infections. Workshops are facilitated by youth, for youth, and can be customized to meet the needs and learning goals of the group.
Peer Support Program
Offers peer-to-peer support that connects newly diagnosed patients and their families with trained volunteers who have been touched firsthand by a blood cancer and who can offer caring support and information. Participants and volunteers are matched by age, diagnosis and gender when possible.
Personalized Support
Offers one-on-one support to help people and their families during and after a cancer experience. Support includes answering questions and addressing concerns, help with organizing and managing self-care, providing information specific to type of blood cancer or treatment, and identifying other helpful community services.
Support Circles
Offers group support to help parents, grandparents and others raising a family member's child to learn positive parenting by providing them with a safe atmosphere in which to share their stories and stresses, learn new skills, receive emotional support, and discover services and resources. Support circles are currently offered online.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Support Line
Provides support, advocacy and resource information to grandparents and other relatives raising a family member's child. The support line serves callers from across the province and is staffed by advocates trained in advocacy, social work, family law, and government services related to child welfare and kinship caregiving.
310 Mental Health Support
Provides a toll-free number connecting callers to a BC crisis line. Offers emotional support, information on appropriate referral options, and a wide range of support relating to mental health concerns.
