People in BC can access mental health and substance use supports in a number of ways. If services are limited in your community or if you find it hard to access in-person support for other reasons, you may find it helpful to access virtual supports. 

Virtual supports include telephone supports, online supports and apps. Check the list below to find something that works for you! 

Province-wide Supports

310 Mental Health Support
Call 310-6789 for emotional support, information and resources specific to mental health

1-800-SUICIDE
​Call 1-800-784-2433 if you are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including thoughts of suicide

Opioid Treatment Access Line
Call 1-833-804-8111 between 9 am and 4 pm to connect with a doctor, nurse or healthcare worker who can prescribe opioid treatment medication that same day

KUU-US Crisis Response Service
​Call 1-800-588-8717 for culturally-aware crisis support for Indigenous peoples in BC

Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service 
Call 1-800-663-1441 to find resources and support

Foundry Virtual
Access virtual services for young people ages 12 to 24

Interior

Interior Health MHSU Line 
Call 310-MHSU (310-6478, no area code) to access mental health and substance use supports. 

Canadian Mental Health Association - Kelowna  
Virtual counselling services are available free of charge to adults ages 25+

Canadian Mental Health Association - Cariboo Chilcotin 
Telephone counselling services are available free of charge for adult ages. 

OneSky Community Resources 
Offers free virtual mental health and substance use counselling to children, youth, and adults living in the Southern Okanagan. 

Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley

Access Central Detox Referral Line 
If you need a same-day substance use support in the Vancouver Coastal Health area (including Vancouver, North Van, Richmond, Squamish, the Sunshine Coast, Bella Bella and Bella Coola), call 1-866-658-1221 between 9 am to 7:45 pm, 7 days a week.  

Fraser Health Virtual Care 
Call 1-800-314-0999 to connect with a nurse for advice on mental health or substance use concerns, 10 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week. Web chat is also available.  

Canadian Mental Health Association, North and West Vancouver 
Offering short-term, low-cost, confidential, one-to-one support to adults living on the North Shore. Both in-person and virtual counselling sessions (zoom or phone) are available.   

​Archway Community Services  
Offers various mental health supports for community members In Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, and Langley 

​DIVERSECity Community Resources Society  
Provides free, culturally sensitive, confidential help for you and your family in your first language. 

Moving Forward Family Services  
Offers a variety of virtual counselling services, including for individuals who cannot afford traditional rates or do not have insurance coverage 

SUCCESS Foundation 
Provides non-English-speaking people with confidential emotional support and referrals to community resources in five languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Farsi-Dari and Ukrainian). Trained volunteers provide emotional support and referrals to community resources that can help to address a wide range of life issues. 

Sahas Community Services 
Provides culturally safe phone support in multiple languages to individuals and families in BC experiencing crisis or distress. Trained volunteers and staff provide non-judgmental emotional support, information and referrals. Call 604-900-9221 for support.  

Gordon Neighbourhood House 
Offers virtual mental health counselling services for adults, including couples and groups. Counselling is available in English, Japanese and Spanish. 

Family Services of the North Shore 
Provides virtual, telephone and in-person counselling services on a no-fee/low-fee sliding fee scale to anyone living in the North Shore community. 

Deltassist
Provides virtual, in-person and telephone substance use services to clients in Delta. 

Northern BC

Northern Health Virtual Clinic 
Connect with the Northern Health Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 and press 2 for mental health and substance use support, 10 am to 10 pm, 7 days a week 

Quesnel Women's Resource Centre 
Offers community counselling for individuals and families facing mental health issues, stress, addictions, and daily life challenges.  

Vancouver Island

Island Health Service Link 
Call 1-888-885-8824 for mental health or substance use support. 

Esquimalt Neighbourhood House  
Offering free counselling to adults living in the Greater Victoria Area 

Pacific Centre Family Services Association 
Offering affordable community counselling options to the Greater Victoria area, primarily the West Shore and Sooke regions 

Peers Victoria Resources Society 
Peers offer a counselling sessions and wellness programs for current or former sex workers 

Vancouver Island Counselling Centre for Immigrants and Refugees (VICCIR)  
Offers counselling services on a sliding fee scale, and for free when needed 

Supports for Indigenous People

National Residential School Crisis Line 
Call 1-866-925-4419 if you require emotional support.

KUU-US Crisis Line Society 
Call 1-800-588-8717 for crisis services for Indigenous people across BC.

Hope for Wellness Helpline 
Offers immediate mental health counselling to all Indigenous peoples across Canada. Both online chat and phone (1-855-242-3310) services are available. 

First Nations Health Authority Mental Health and Cultural Supports 
The First Nations Health Authority and other organizations provide culturally safe and trauma-informed cultural, emotional, and mental health services, including virtual counselling and support programs for Indigenous people across BC. 

First Nations Health Authority Virtual Doctor of the Day 
Virtual appointments and access to primary and mental health care for First Nations people and their family members.  

First Nations Health Authority Substance Use and Psychiatry Service 
Provides Indigenous people in B.C. with access to specialists in addictions medicine and psychiatry. This service is also available to the family members of Indigenous people. 

Carrier Sekani Family Services  
Offers mental health consultation, assessment and treatment services within a Carrier and Sekani cultural framework. Counselling program accepts anyone through the policy of “every door is the right door”, free of charge 

Dze L K'ant Friendship Centre Society (Houston)  
Mental health counselling and supports in Houston for individuals, couples, and families who want a third party for support, coping, and problem solving 

Lillooet Friendship Centre Society 
Offers a range of culturally sensitive mental health and addictions counselling services and programs. 

Supports for Young People and Their Supporters

Foundry 
Foundry  is a province-wide network of in-person centres and virtual supports offering integrated health and wellness services designed to meet the needs of young people 12 to 24 years old and their families/caregivers. Services include same-day and scheduled virtual counselling sessions, peer support, primary care, support with employment, groups & workshops, and access to a library of tools and resources.

Child & Youth Mental Health
Child and Youth Mental Health teams provide mental health assessment and treatment options for children and youth (0 to 18 years of age) and their families at no cost. Services might include counselling, outreach or referrals to other community support. 

Kids Help Phone 
Get 24/7, immediate counselling, support, information and referrals. Youth can call 1-800-668-6868 or text TALK to 686868.  Texting support for adults available by texting TALK to 741741. 

Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre 
Free mental health and substance use information, resources, and peer support for BC parents, caregivers, and families of children and youth up to the age of 24. Call 1-800-665-1822. 

FamilySmart 
Programs to help BC families and caregivers who are parenting children and youth facing mental health challenges. FamilySmart provides peer support, information and navigation of mental health services.   

Here2Talk 
Confidential, free counselling and referral services by app, phone or online chat for all registered post-secondary students in BC. Speak to a counsellor on the phone at 1-877-857-3397 or use 1-604-642-5212 if you are a student calling from outside of Canada (international calling charges may apply). 

Confident Parents: Thriving Kids 
Provides a family-focused coaching service for parents of children with anxiety or behaviour challenges.  

Learn more about young people supporting themselves or families supporting young people.  

Supports for Workplace Mental Health

Care for Caregivers 
Trusted information, free workshops to support employees and quick daily coping tips are available through the Care for Caregivers hub for healthcare workers. This site provides a range of easy-to-use resources to support mental health and well-being. You can also access online chat support or call their Care to Speak line at 1-866-802-7337 (PEER) for peer support Monday to Friday, 5pm to 9pm, or Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. 

Mobile Response Team 
Offers support, education and training to first responders, frontline healthcare workers, and other community care providers, who are experiencing distress and mental health concerns related to overdoses or overdose death. Call 1-888-686-3022 or email the Mobile Response Team to access this service. 

People Working Well (Workplace Mental Health Hub) 
Offers mental health resources and free training for employers and employees in BC who work in the tourism, hospitality and community social services industry. Resources include a range of tools to help with workplace concerns such as supporting colleagues through crisis, neurodiversity in the workplace and managing change effectively. 

Supports for 2SLGBTQIA+ People

Trans Lifeline Hotline 
Hotline operators provide confidential peer support to trans and questioning callers. Call 1-877-330-6366 for support, Monday to Friday, from 10 am and 6 pm Pacific Time. 

QMUNITY 
Offers support for 2SLGBTQAI+ people including peer groups, youth and senior programs. 

Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre Society 
Provides 24-hour crisis support, information and referrals to women, two-spirit, nonbinary, and gender diverse people who are survivors of sexualized violence. Call 604-255-6344 (Lower Mainland) or 1-877-392-7583 (national toll-free line) to access immediate crisis assistance. 

Mind Map BC 
Provides database of outpatient mental health services, including professional counselling, peer counselling, support groups, and more

Apps, Courses and Programs

BounceBack 
Provides free access to online, video and phone-based coaching and skills-building. The BounceBack program is for adults and youth 13+ who are experiencing low mood, mild to moderate depression, anxiety, stress, or worry. 

Gambling Support BC 
Offers free information and support services for anyone in BC struggling with their own or a loved one's gambling. Support options include individual and group counselling, indigenous services and community outreach support. Call the Gambling Support Line at 1-888-795-6111 or  request support online using the online intake form. 

HeadsUpGuys 
An online resource that supports men in their fight against depression by providing tips, tools, information about professional services, and stories of success. 

Lumara 
Education, support and counselling services for children, youth, adults and families who are grieving the death of a loved one or coping with a life-threatening illness. Services offered by Lumara include grief counselling, grief support groups, grief education, family grief camps, community choirs, Indigenous Wellness, and more. 

MindShift CBT app 
Help manage anxiety using scientifically proven strategies based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The MindShift™ CBT app helps you learn to be mindful, develop effective ways of thinking, and use active steps to take charge of your anxiety. 

Multicultural Mental Health Resource Centre  
Provides access to mental health information in more than 25 languages.
