Aimee Beaulieu Transition House

Nelson Community Services Society

Offers emergency shelter and support services for abused women and their children who are at risk of violence or have experienced violence. The transition house provides safe, supportive accommodation where women can review options and make decisions.

Staff are available to provide emotional support, information and supports for decision making, referrals, safety plans, and links to affordable housing, even if a woman is not yet prepared to or needing to stay at the transition house.

North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society

Provides counselling for students and families experiencing stress at home (such as addictions, grief, mental health), that affect the student's ability to manage at school. Families are referred by the school and services are offered in the school and family home.

Provides in-home family support services and counselling to high need, high-risk families whose children may be at risk of being placed in the care of the Ministry of Children and Families Development.

Provides counselling to women who have experienced current or past relationship abuse, sexual assault, or physical, emotional or sexual abuse at any age. The program provides a safe place for women to make decisions that feel right for them, learn coping skills, and regain a sense of safety and control.

Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling and Empowerment

Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society

Provides free, confidential counselling for children and youth who have witnessed and or experienced abuse, threats, violence in the home, or other relationship violence.

The program offers safety skills and strategies, and supports children to understand they are not at fault for abusive action of others. Children learn about violence and abuse issues through education, art, and play activities suitable to their age.

Victim Services

Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society

Provides justice-related information and referrals, emotional support and practical assistance to victims or witness of crime, criminal harassment, trauma, and or physical or sexual assault.

Services include safety planning, referrals to community services, and accompaniment to police and court appearances. Police-based crisis intervention, support and education is also available in the community by the local RCMP detachment.

Mobile Outreach

Provides drug checking, harm reduction supplies and education, Naloxone, snacks and water, hygiene items, and community resources information to individuals in Penticton, Oliver, Osoyoos, Summerland and surrounding areas.

Provides 24-hour crisis line support including suicide assessment, crisis intervention, access to mental health crisis response services, and island-wide community resources. Also offers crisis text services and online chat.

Residential Treatment Program

Stepping Stones Recovery House for Women Society

Provides a faith-based residential treatment program to help women recover from drug and alcohol addiction. A holistic approach is used to address physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs. The program includes group therapy, life coaching, fitness activities, and support groups.
