Homicide Grief Support Groups

British Columbia Bereavement Helpline

Offers group support in a safe, non-judgmental environment to families and friends of individuals who have survived the loss of a loved one by homicide. Groups meet once a week for eight weeks.

Participants come together to support each other, listen to others who have experienced a similar loss, and as well learn grief and mourning tools to help in their daily lives.

Powell Place Emergency Shelter for Women

The Bloom Group Community Services Society

Provides short-term emergency shelter to women in crisis living with the challenges of violence, abuse, poverty, mental illness and addiction.

Services include crisis intervention, 24-hour on-site staff support, meals, laundry services, housing assistance, harm reduction supplies, individual counselling, accompaniment to appointments, referrals and advocacy.

Crisis Response, Community Led - Prince George

Prince George Native Friendship Centre

Provides emergency response to crisis calls related to mental health situations or crisis concerns. Crisis responders may include a mental health professional and a peer worker with lived experience working together to provide in-person support to youth and adults in Prince George.

A team of crisis responders are trained to help reduce distress, provide safety and support, help with referrals to other services and offer post-crisis follow-up.

Mobile Harm Reduction and Prevention Program

Pacific Community Resources Society

Offers mobile outreach to individuals who are experiencing homeless or at-risk populations from Chilliwack to Boston Bar. A mobile vehicle travels to different communities to provide harm reduction supplies, fentanyl test strips, safer sex supplies, sexually transmitted infection testing, and collection of needles and syringes.

Staff with lived experience also connects people to services such as housing, income assistance, mental health and other community resources.
