Transitional Housing and Recovery Program

Stepping Stones Recovery House for Women Society

Provides second-stage transitional housing for women who have completed a substance use treatment program and need support with transitioning to a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle. The program includes group therapy, twelve-step programs, life coaching, and community volunteer work.

Provides clean needles and harm reduction supplies to people in the community to help reduce the spread of HIV, HCV and other illnesses. The program also promotes safer drug-use habits through referrals to health care, detox, treatment and other community services.

Services include picking up used needles from housing projects, emptying the city needle boxes in the Downtown Eastside, and collecting discarded needles from streets, alleys, and parks. A hotline is also available for delivery of harm reduction materials to anyone within the Vancouver city limits.

Provides harm reduction outreach by a two-person bicycle team that serves both the West End and Downtown Eastside of Vancouver. The program provides needle recovery, overdose response, naloxone kits, overdose response training, and harm reduction supplies.

Provides in-home support to help families who are a first-time parent or will be parenting a child for the first time. Home visits are provided by nurses, social workers or program staff, who will visit the home approximately once per week to answer questions and provide parenting advice.

Services include monitoring of baby's health and development, and answering questions about topics such as feeding, potty training, child development, healthy meals, child discipline, and preschool information.

Provides a 10 week confidential, non-judgmental community support group held in a relaxed and safe environment for women affected by domestic abuse. These support groups are held in various locations and several times during the year.

Provides crisis services over the phone and in-person to anyone who has experienced a physical or sexual assault by a stranger or someone they know. SMART helps people who are in crisis, even in the middle of the night, with getting medical treatment, reporting a crime to the police, and or finding a safe place to stay. Workers can also arrange transportation for clients to meet them at a hospital or police station.

Service is provided through a partnership between Surrey Women's Centre, Surrey Memorial Hospital, and VictimLINK BC.

The Bloom Group Community Services Society

Provides short-term emergency shelter to women in crisis living with the challenges of violence, abuse, poverty, mental illness and addiction.

Services include crisis intervention, 24-hour on-site staff support, meals, laundry services, housing assistance, harm reduction supplies, individual counselling, accompaniment to appointments, referrals and advocacy.

Prince George Native Friendship Centre

Provides emergency response to crisis calls related to mental health situations or crisis concerns. Crisis responders may include a mental health professional and a peer worker with lived experience working together to provide in-person support to youth and adults in Prince George.

A team of crisis responders are trained to help reduce distress, provide safety and support, help with referrals to other services and offer post-crisis follow-up.

Alzheimer Resource Centre - West Kootenay

Alzheimer Society of BC

Provides information, education and support for individuals with Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. Also offers support to caregivers, families, and health professionals who help those concerned with or facing dementia, build the knowledge, skills and confidence to maintain quality of life.

Services include individual support, community referrals, and a resource library including books, videos, brochures and information sheets.
