Raising Resilient Kids Parenting Program
Offers a group-based program to help parents and caregivers to develop mindful parenting skills and strengthen caregiver-child relationships during early childhood. Topics include child development, mindfulness, attachment, and reflective parenting. The group is facilitated by trained physicians.
Air Travel Assistance
Provides free airline flights to low-income residents who must travel for non-emergency medical care that is not available in their community.
Patient Services
Provides access to pediatric care for children in BC and the Yukon requiring medical attention for orthopedic and other pediatric specialities. Transportation, accommodation, and all associated medical treatment including follow-up, are provided at Shriners Hospitals for Children in Portland, Spokane and Montreal.
After Stroke Program
Provides a personalized recovery program to support stroke survivors, their families and friends, to navigate the path forward after a stroke.
Services are provided throughout BC and include community navigation support with a stroke coordinator, drop-in virtual programs, community-based meetings, and peer group for people with aphasia.
Independent Rights Advice Service
Provides information and support to people who are detained and experiencing involuntary treatment under the Mental Health Act in BC. Rights Advisors meet with patients to explain their rights and options, as well as support patients to exercise these rights. Meetings are confidential and offered by phone and in-person depending on accessibility and cultural safety needs.
VictimLink BC
Provides a toll-free, confidential, multilingual telephone service available across BC and Yukon. Offers information and referral services to all victims of crime and immediate crisis support to victims of family and sexual violence, including victims of human trafficking exploited for labour or sexual services.
Services include connecting with community, social, health, justice and government resources, such as community-based victim services, transition houses, counselling resources, and information about the justice system.
Alcohol and Drug Information and Referral Service
Provides a free, confidential phone service for people throughout BC needing help with any kind of substance use concern. Offers information and referral to education and prevention resources, support groups, and a full range of counselling and treatment services. Not a clinical service.
Gambling Support Line
Provides a 24-hour telephone confidential, non-judgemental help line for information and counselling referrals related to problem gambling. Referrals include counselling services for adults and youth, prevention resources, self-help groups, and other community services.
Youth Against Violence Line
Provides trained support workers who talk with young people and concerned adults about bullying, gang activity, sexual exploitation, harassment, and many other youth-related issues. Information is safe, confidential and anonymous.
Concerned parents, teachers, caregivers, service providers and others are also welcome to call for information and assistance.
Find a Community Response Network
Provides an online listing of community teams throughout BC that are dedicated to prevent abuse, neglect, and self-neglect of adults through education, advocacy, resources, outreach, and support planning.
