Family Support Program

Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs

Provides in-home family support services and counselling to high need, high-risk families whose children may be at risk of being placed in the care of the Ministry of Children and Families Development.

Victim Services

Shuswap Area Family Emergency Society

Provides justice-related information and referrals, emotional support and practical assistance to victims or witness of crime, criminal harassment, trauma, and or physical or sexual assault.

Services include safety planning, referrals to community services, and accompaniment to police and court appearances. Police-based crisis intervention, support and education is also available in the community by the local RCMP detachment.

Homeless Outreach

Canadian Mental Health Association - Kelowna Branch

Offers outreach services to help homeless individuals with accessing housing, a stable source of income, and other support services such as primary and mental health care. Workers also address immediate physical and safety needs such as food, warm clothing, and a place to stay. Services include life skills training, crisis intervention, and referrals to other programs and services as needed.

Mobile Access Project

WISH Drop-in Centre Society

Offers outreach services to help women working on the streets of Vancouver. A mobile vehicle travels in areas of the city where there are few or no services open late at night.

Snacks, beverages, basic first aid supplies, and harm reduction and safer sex supplies such as condoms and clean needles, are provided. Staff with lived experience provide emotional support and referral to emergency shelters, health care services and other community supports.

Boundary Women's Coalition

Provides immediate emotional support and information to individuals who have been sexually assaulted within the past 7 days. The team provides accompaniment to the hospital, safety planning, and coordinates police involvement as requested by the survivor.

South Asian LGBTQ Support Services

Sher Vancouver LGBTQ Friends Society

Offers advocacy, education and counselling to LGBTQ south Asians, their friends, families and allies in the Greater Vancouver area. Services include outreach, volunteer opportunities, information and referral services.

Peer support includes groups for queer south Asian youth and friends; social group for south Asian lesbian, bisexual and trans women; and a group for queer south Asian men and friends.

S.T.A.R. Program for Kids

Watari Research Association

Provides education and information around choices, drugs and responsibility to elementary-aged school children in Vancouver. Youth are active participants in the sessions with the curriculum delivered through fun and engaging activities. Topics include alcohol and drug basics, healthier choices, myth busting, conflict and tricky situations, values, and creating options.

Offers residential treatment in a supportive drug and alcohol-free environment to help women overcome their chemical dependency and substance misuse.

The program includes individual and group counselling, meals, recreational activities and socialization, 12-step programs, and personal development opportunities.

Provides a faith-based residential treatment program to help women recover from drug and alcohol addiction. A holistic approach is used to address physical, spiritual, emotional and social needs. The program includes group therapy, life coaching, fitness activities, and support groups.

Provides second-stage transitional housing for women who have completed a substance use treatment program and need support with transitioning to a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle. The program includes group therapy, twelve-step programs, life coaching, and community volunteer work.
