South Asian LGBTQ Support Services

Sher Vancouver LGBTQ Friends Society

Offers advocacy, education and counselling to LGBTQ south Asians, their friends, families and allies in the Greater Vancouver area. Services include outreach, volunteer opportunities, information and referral services.

Peer support includes groups for queer south Asian youth and friends; social group for south Asian lesbian, bisexual and trans women; and a group for queer south Asian men and friends.

YouthCO HIV and Hep C Society

Provides peer-led workshops, presentations and training to youth on sexual health and harm reduction topics. Offered to youth communities throughout BC, the program aims to increase the skills of young people with preventing, passing and getting HIV, Hep C, and other sexually transmitted infections. Workshops are facilitated by youth, for youth, and can be customized to meet the needs and learning goals of the group.

Provides an interactive website where British Columbians can learn about information and resources available to improve their mental well-being. Resources include online information, self-help programs and local in-person services. Individuals can also use the website to connect with resources on behalf of their friends and families.

Alliance Program

Together We Can Drug & Alcohol Recovery & Education Society

Offers a safe and supportive residential treatment program for adults in the LGBTQ community who struggle with the challenges of substance misuse, and desire a new life in recovery.

Program includes individual and group sessions, counselling, nightly 12-step meetings, and access to a wide range of therapeutic and social programing. Education centre and recovery home are located in Vancouver.
