About
The Tailgate Toolkit Project is an innovative program aimed at increasing access to harm reduction services and ideas for those working in the construction industry.
Description
Tailgate Toolkit provides resources and programs designed to help employers and supervisors in the construction industry learn and teach about harm reduction and safer drug use. Resources include:
- Toolbox Talks: The Toolbox Talk is an introductory conversation about substance use, mental health, the current toxic drug supply, and what harm reduction/recovery services are available in each region of the province.
- Supervisor training: Gain the tools to confidently discuss substance use, mental health, and pain management with your team! Designed specifically to equip and inform construction supervisors about the complex issues surrounding substance use and toxic drug poisoning in the construction industry.
- Regional resources: The Tailgate Toolkit Team has representatives in three regional construction association offices across British Columbia. Within the resource guides you’ll find region-specific information on mental health services, overdoes prevention sites, chronic pain resources, and more.
- Hammer Time: The life of a construction worker isn’t for everyone, and most people don’t get it. That’s why Tailgate Toolkit has created a space to talk about substance use with others in the industry: Hammer Time.
