Free mental health clinics for children and youth in locations across B.C. 

Foundry Centres

Foundry

Offers health and social services for young people to access mental health care, substance use services, youth and family peer supports, primary care, and social services. Services are provided together in a single place to make it easier for young people to find the care, connection and support they need.

Centres provide safe, non-judgmental care, information and resources in a youth-friendly space and work to reach young people earlier - before health challenges become problematic.

Discovery Youth and Family Substance Use Services

Island Health

Provides counselling to youth experiencing difficulties related to their own or another person's substance use. Also offers counselling to families, caregivers, and support persons worried about a youth's use of alcohol or other drugs.

A range of services are offered including individual and family counselling, outreach services, individualized planning, substance use education and information, withdrawal management, and supported residential services.

Interior Region Family Navigator

Canadian Mental Health Association - Kelowna Branch

Provides a toll-free phone line for parents and caregivers of children, youth, or dependent adults living in the interior of BC, who are unsure how to find mental health services, or information about mental health and substance use issues.

Navigators listen to concerns, find out what supports are needed, and then assist the caller in finding relevant, local community resources.

Youth Community Outpatient Service

Northern Health

Provides assessment, counselling, and case management for youth and young adults with both mental health concerns and substance use issues. The program includes individual and group therapy, life-skills training, recreational activities and family support.

Vancouver Coastal Tertiary Mental Health and Substance Use Services

Specialized care for individuals with serious and persistent mental illness who have not been successfully treated by other programs.

Community Youth Substance Use Services

Fraser Health Authority

Provides outpatient support recovery programs to individuals coping with drug and alcohol addictions. Services may include information and resources, assessment, counselling, aftercare support, and referrals. Day and evening programs available.

Funded and or operated by an outside party. Services and age range vary at each location; call your nearest location for more information.

Provincial Substance Use Treatment Program

BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services

Provides specialized addiction treatment in a supported home-like setting for adults in BC who need help with severe substance use. The program is approximately three months long and includes after-care support for up to a year following treatment.

The program includes assessment and stabilization, counselling, supportive treatment, medication therapy, peer support, life skills development, family programs, and education about mental illness and substance use.
