Peer Support Groups

Mood Disorders Association of British Columbia

Offers a variety of support groups around the province for those with mental illness and mood disorders, their family and friends. Support groups are facilitated by trained volunteers with lived experience of mental health concerns.

The support groups are peer-led and offer a safe place to share stories, struggles and accomplishments, listen to others as they share similar concerns, and receive informal education about mental health challenges.

Also provides information about available presentations such as the Partnership Education Presentation, ReachOut Psychosis Tour for secondary schools, and Puppet Education Program for school children.

Free Counselling Society Canada

Provides access to free counselling for individuals in Canada by counselling interns, supervised by counselling supervisors. Counselling interns are counselling students who are near the end of their professional training to become fully registered counsellors. Sessions are 45 minutes and available by video or phone call, depending on the counsellors' availability.
