Public Housing Health Services

BC Housing

The service has Health Services Coordinators throughout the province that assists BC Housing tenants in public housing developments on a variety of health-related issues. The coordinators do not offer medical advice, but they can direct clients to community services for help, including referrals to mental health services, grief support after the loss of a loved one, community health care, diabetes clinics, domestic violence units, and addictions counselling.

Provides counselling and a variety of programs and services to support individuals with Down syndrome, their parents and families. Support includes individual counselling, information and resources, parent support meetings, child play therapy, kids and youth groups, skill development, and health workshops.

Pacific Centre Family Services Association

Provides confidential email counselling, information and referral for youth and young adults by a professional counsellor. In-person counselling sessions are also offered when needed.

Salal Sexual Violence Support Centre Society

Provides individual and group counselling to women, trans, non-binary, two-spirit, and gender diverse people who have experienced sexualized violence. Counsellors help support survivors to cope with the impacts of violence ranging from anger and grief to issues including sexuality, intimacy and trust.

Counselling may include safety planning, support circles, sexual assault counselling, art therapy, inclusion support, and counselling for Indigenous survivors rooted in Indigenous healing practices and traditions.

Provides one-on-one counselling, crisis support, and peer group support for men and their families throughout the province. Appointments are available via phone, Skype, or in-person at the Nanaimo office.

Services include emotional support and counselling, referrals, fathering support, and help with understanding the judicial and family court systems.

Vancouver Coastal Health

Provides support to youth and their caregivers with managed substance use withdrawal and follow-up in a home environment. The program works with young people who are using substances and want to stop or significantly reduce the use of at least one substance.

Services include support through withdrawal, short-term family counselling and or mediation, home visits, cultural and spiritual supports, long-term treatment referrals, and harm reduction supplies. Access to opiate agonist therapy and primary care services are also available.
